Washington DC Highlights Day five

We went to the Postal Museum this day. It was a quiet museum, so I was glad for that. It was still very humid out, and cloudy, so it was uncomforable. But we tried to take in what we could anyways.

The kids liked the postal truck, they thought it was cool to be in it.

One stamp room

Mark really wanted to go to the National Gallery of Art. I didn't think I would really like it, but I ended up liking it a lot!! The art is all original!! This painting was of George Washington, and it was awesome to think that the painting that we looked at was hanging in George Washingtons house. Amazing.

Just to give you an idea, as to how big some of the painting were.

We went to the International Spy Museum

The museum was a good one, we had to pay for this one, and we couldn't take any picutres inside it, but it was good. The kids really liked it, it was pretty interactive. Plus they knew they could buy something at the gift shop! :)

We went back to the hotel early and the kids got to go swimming. It was nice to be done early this day :)

Washington DC Highlights Day 4

We walked A LOT this day! We figured that we walked about 7 miles this day!! But it was worth it all!!

The Capital

It was so hot again, the kids are all sweaty here :) And in the middle of taking pictures, they were complaining through there smiles about how hot it was ;)

We didn't plan on going through the American History Museum, but I am glad we did. We cooled off some, and we enjoyed a lot of the artifacts. This is Abe Lincolns real top hat. He was wearing it when he was shot.

The Star Spangled Banner

It was huge! And it was really worn out too! We couldn't take pictures here, so again, I got this online. This flag is almost 200 years old!

The Lincoln Memorial

Marine One!! I didn't get to see it, as I was visiting Abe Lincole inside the memorial, so I was disappointed, but I am glad Mark got the picture of it!! :)

Washington DC Highlights day 3

Day three took us to the Holocaust Museum. It took us about 4 hours to walk through the whole thing. It was very surreal what people had to go through. I think we could have walked through it everyday, and we would have had something new to read and learn while we were there. There was a lot to take in.

We weren't allowed to take many pictures inside, so this picture is one I got online.

After the holocaust museum, we went and got something to eat, and we camped out near the Washington Monument to wait for the fireworks. It was sooooo nice to just relax, and it was cloudy out, so not too hot! :) This picture of the kids is my favorite one that Mark took while we were there.

I'm impressed with how my camera takes firework pictures. I am also impressed with the fireworks in itself!! It was amazing!! I am so glad we could go there to see the fireworks, after all, how many people can say they have been at the capital on the 4th of July?

We stopped by a grocery store on our way back to the hotel, and got bottled water for the next few days. I really like this picture too :)

Washington DC highlights, Day 2

Our 2nd day there, was a lot of fun! It was SO HOT!! I was uncomfortable most of the time, but thankfully, we stayed inside, in the Smithsonian Museum. It was cool in there, but crowded too. We took the Metro (like the subway) around the city. It was so easy to navagate! I am glad we had phone apps to use too.

I have pics of TONS of scenery, but it would take me 100 posts to put up a good amount of them. So I have mostly my kids in these pics. If you want to see more, next time you see me, I will show you! :)

Getting ready to ride on the Metro. So fun!!

The Air and Space Museum

A metal tree sculpture. It was hot!!

Inside the Museum of Natural History. Josh really wanted to see this!

Cool shot of the metro underground!

My favorite pic! I love these two!!

Washington DC Highlights Day 1

I am going to highlight our trip with the pics. Some of these pic are from my cell phone, so they have been seen once before. But I wanted to put these down, so I can remember this for later :)

Flying to The Cities. My kids love to fly! I am so glad they do!

But of course the snacks are the best!!

On our trrp to DC, we had personal tv's. The boys LOVED that!! Jake watched Spongebob and Josh watched Loggers on Discovery Channel. They were pretty excited to be able to watch tv on a plane! Alyssah was too, but she slept almost the whole time, which was very nice!

When we got there, we ate at Five Guys Burger and Fries. You get a HUGE helping of food, we didn't know this, so we ordered a ton, because we were hungry, and this was our late lunch early supper, and we wasted a ton of food. Next time we will know better! But I love this picture of the kids!! :)

After we were done with eating we took the kids swimming, and we relaxed! The kids loved it!! We were so tired, though, we had been up since 3am. So we went to McDonalds, grabbed a smoothie and then got ready for bed. We knew we had to get ready for the next day! And we were excited!
